How to Choose a White-Label Custom Figurine Partner: 6 Checks for Resellers

Selling custom figurines from photos is an attractive line for a gift shop, cake studio or photography business: no stock to hold, every piece personal, nothing on a mass-market shelf looks like it. It's also a line where your reputation rides on a factory your customer never sees. If the piece arrives wrong, your customer doesn't blame the maker — they blame you.

So the choice of production partner matters more than the product photos. Here are the six checks we'd run before trusting any maker with our store's name — written by a maker, so you can hold us to every one of them.

Check 1: The minimum order matches how you'll actually sell

Custom figurines sell one at a time, to one customer, from one set of photos. A partner who wants bulk commitments per design doesn't fit this business — you'd be carrying the risk they should carry.

Ask: "Can I order a single piece, made from my customer's photo, at partner pricing?"

PrinYou's minimum order is 1 piece. Every order is modelled from that end customer's photos, so you can test the line with real orders instead of inventory.

Check 2: Your customer approves a preview under your brand — not the maker's

The riskiest moment in a custom order is the gap between "photo sent" and "box opened." A professional partner closes that gap with a digital preview the customer approves before production. For a white-label seller, there's a second question: whose brand is on that preview?

If your customer gets an approval page covered in the factory's logo, you've just handed them your supplier. Ask: "Can my customers preview and approve their 3D model on a page that carries my brand?"

PrinYou partners get exactly that: a preview page with your logo, your store name, your contact details and your accent colour — we don't appear on it. Your customer can rotate and zoom the model, view it in AR at real size, submit change requests on the page and approve with one click. See a working sample: partner preview sample page. On-screen colours are approximate; the preview is for checking shape and likeness before production.

Check 3: Ordering doesn't become your second job

Manual order emails are fine at five orders a month. At fifty, they're errors waiting to happen. Ask how orders travel: "When my store takes an order, how does it reach production — and how does tracking get back to my customer?"

With PrinYou you can start simply, with manual order submission. If you sell on Shopify, your orders can also flow straight to us automatically — no re-typing photos, options and addresses between systems — and tracking flows back the same way. Either route, production starts from the same place: photos in, preview out, your customer's approval, then print.

Check 4: The packaging is genuinely white-label

"White-label" should mean the parcel tells your customer nothing about us. Ask: "What exactly is inside the box my customer opens?"

With PrinYou: neutral, white-label packaging with no PrinYou branding, no prices and no promotional inserts — and a gift box presentation your customer can hand over as-is. If you want packaging with your own branding, that can be discussed per project, with cost, lead time and minimums confirmed in writing before you commit.

Check 5: Processes and partner pricing are stated, not blended

Two production processes exist in this trade, and they are not interchangeable: full-color 3D printing, where colour is formed during printing for the most realistic result; and single-colour printing followed by hand painting, a different look at a different cost. Both are resin. A partner who blurs them into one "handcrafted" claim will blur your pricing too.

Ask what's included in the partner price, in writing. PrinYou's standard partner pricing typically includes photo-based 3D modelling, the digital preview, reasonable pre-production revisions, printing, a solid wood base, free name engraving, white-label gift packaging and standard shipping. Anything special — designs, bases, packaging, shipping conditions — is confirmed per order before you quote your customer.

Check 6: After-sales has a named answer before you need it

Something will eventually arrive damaged, or clearly different from the approved preview. What happens next decides whether you keep that customer. Ask: "If a piece arrives damaged or wrong, what do you actually do?"

Our answer: send us photos or video plus the order details; after verification, production issues that are our responsibility get a remake or another reasonable solution. Personalised pieces are made to order from an approved preview, so change-of-mind returns aren't available once production starts — which is exactly why the branded preview approval in Check 2 matters: it's your evidence and your customer's.
