Custom 3D figurine made from a single photo

So verwandeln Sie ein Foto in eine 3D-Figur

Turning a photo into a 3D figurine sounds like it needs a studio, a scanner and a serious budget. It does not. One clear photo, a preview step, and about two weeks of production time stand between a flat image and a figurine you can hold. Here is how the process runs.

We get asked this every week, usually by someone holding a phone photo from three years ago. Can that picture really become a figurine? Usually, yes. Understanding what the photo does tells you which pictures work and which ones fight you.

What the photo actually does

The photo is a reference, not a scan. Nobody traces your picture into material. A production team reads the photo — face, proportions, pose, outfit, colors — and builds the figurine from that reading. That is why a clear photo matters more than a fancy camera.

The face is the priority

If the face is readable, the rest is negotiable. A face that fills a good part of the frame beats a perfect full-body shot where the face is forty pixels wide. Blurry faces are the number one reason a preview needs another round.

One front-facing photo is enough to start

No 360-degree capture rig, no multi-angle set. One clear, front-facing photo starts the order. Extra angles help for full-body pieces, especially couples and families, but they are a bonus, not a requirement.

The four steps from photo to figurine

Step 1: You order and upload the photo

Pick the type and size — single figure, couple, family group, pet — and upload your photo. There is no minimum order; a single figurine is a normal order, not a wholesale arrangement.

Step 2: A digital preview arrives in 3–5 working days

Before anything is printed, you receive a digital preview showing pose, proportions and color direction. This is where likeness problems get solved, while changes are still cheap.

Step 3: You approve, or you send notes

Production starts only after you approve. If something is off — the smile, the outfit color, the pose — send consolidated notes and the preview is revised. Changes after approval mean a new production run, so be thorough now.

Step 4: Production takes 7–10 working days

After approval the figurine is produced and shipped in neutral packaging with no supplier branding. Working days are not calendar weeks, so order ahead of the date you need it in hand.

What you receive — and what you do not

The finished piece is a 3D-printed custom figurine with a matte finish and a fine, sandstone-like surface texture. Subtle print-layer lines are visible in the material; that is the process signature, not a defect. It is a decorative keepsake, not a toy, and it is not plastic, ceramic or clay.

Pieces are produced through full-color direct printing, or single-color printing with hand painting afterward — the order states which method applies before production begins. These are two different finishes, and nobody promises a combination that does not exist.

The three mistakes that cause most delays

A face that is too small in frame

Cropped group shots, distant panoramas, faces smaller than a coin. Crop to the face before uploading, or pick a different photo.

Ordering small when you wanted detail

Detail scales with size. At 12 cm and above, facial features and outfit details read clearly. At 8–10 cm, a two-person full-body figure hits physical limits — expect a simplified look, not fine detail.

Leaving the order to the last week

Preview plus production is 10–15 working days in the normal case, before transit. Work backward from the date, not forward from today.

Frequently asked questions

Can any photo be turned into a 3D figurine?

Most can, as long as the face is clear and reasonably large in frame. Old photos and phone snapshots work more often than people expect — readability matters more than resolution.

How long does it take to turn a photo into a 3D figurine?

A digital preview in 3–5 working days, then 7–10 working days of production after you approve. Shipping time is additional.

Do I need professional photos or multiple angles?

No. One clear, front-facing photo starts the order. Additional angles help for full-body and multi-figure pieces, but they are optional.

What if I do not like the preview?

Send notes during the preview stage — that is what it is for. Once you approve and production starts, changes require a new production run.
