Custom 3D figurine from photo ordering checklist with preview before production

Was Sie wissen müssen, bevor Sie eine individuelle 3D-Figur vom Foto bestellen

Ordering a custom 3D figurine from a photo is straightforward, but the order page cannot explain everything. A few minutes reading this will save you a disappointing preview, a missed date, or a figurine that does not look like the person you had in mind.

Here is what actually matters before you order.

The photo: one good image, front-facing

You need one clear, front-facing photo. That is the whole requirement — no 360-degree capture, no studio session, no multiple angles. The face should be reasonably large in the frame; a face the size of a pinhead cannot be sculpted into anything recognizable, no matter how good the camera was.

Readability beats resolution. A sharp old photo with a clear face outperforms a high-resolution shot where the person is fifty meters away. Sunglasses, heavy shadows across the face, and backs of heads are the three things that cause most problems.

Size: what it does to the finished piece

8–10 cm

The small format. Suits single figures, keychains and cake toppers. Faces come through, but fine details compress — expect simpler clothing and fewer props. For a couple at this size, both figures are small; the composition stays simple by necessity.

12 cm and above

The display range. Facial features and outfit details become clearly readable, which is why full-body pieces, family groups and memorial keepsakes usually start here. Larger sizes also tolerate more complex requests — the guitar, the uniform, the dog at the feet.

Couples and groups

More figures means each figure gets less room. Two people at 8–10 cm means small bodies; at 14 cm and above, a couple stands comfortably. For family pieces, expect the composition to simplify as the group grows.

The timeline, precisely

After you order, a digital preview arrives within 3–5 working days. It shows pose, proportions and color direction. You approve it or send consolidated notes; production runs 7–10 working days after approval. Changes requested after production starts require a new production run — that is the one rule people wish were different, and it is the rule that keeps previews useful.

For a dated occasion, count backward: preview window, production window, transit time, and a buffer. Two to three weeks is the comfortable minimum for a birthday; weddings and events with fixed dates deserve two to three months.

The material and finish

Figurines are 3D-printed decorative keepsakes with a matte finish and a fine sandstone-like texture. Up close you will see subtle print-layer lines — that is the process signature, not a defect. The surface is not glossy, not plastic-looking, not ceramic. These are display pieces, not toys, and not food-contact items.

The two production methods

Full-color direct print

Color is formed during printing itself. This is the standard route for full-color figurines and toppers, and what most orders use.

Single-color print with hand painting

The piece is printed in one material color and then painted by hand. This route is typically considered for larger pieces or where a specific painted finish is requested. It is a different process from full-color printing, and the order states which one your piece uses — they are never blended into a "full-color hand-painted" promise, because that combination does not exist here.

Packaging and delivery

Orders ship in neutral packaging with no supplier branding, pricing or marketing material. If you are sending the figurine as a gift, the parcel does not announce what is inside or where it came from. Transit time depends on destination and is quoted at checkout.

When you are ready, browse all sizes and formats or look through showcase examples of finished pieces to calibrate what a given size actually looks like.

Frequently asked questions

Is one photo really enough for a custom 3D figurine?

Yes, for most pieces — one clear, front-facing photo with the face large in the frame. Extra angles help for full-body and multi-figure work, but they are a bonus, not a requirement.

What happens if the preview does not look right?

Send consolidated notes during the preview stage — that is exactly what it is for. Direction is confirmed before production so problems stay cheap to fix. After approval, changes mean a new production run.

Are the figurines safe for children?

They are decorative display pieces, not toys. Small parts and fine detail make them better suited to shelves and desks than play, and they are not food-contact items.

Can I order just one figurine?

Yes. The minimum order is one — every figurine is made to order, so a single piece is a normal order, not an exception.
