How a Custom Pet Memorial Figurine Keeps Memories Close

Comment une figurine commémorative personnalisée pour animal de compagnie permet de garder les souvenirs près de soi

Grief for a pet is real grief, and it does not always come with the rituals that human loss gets. No service, no grave to visit, just a house with a shaped absence in it — the empty spot on the rug, the leash still by the door. A custom pet memorial figurine is one way people give that loss a physical form.

We make these regularly, and we handle them with the same process as any other order: one photo, one preview, one approval. What differs is the care around the edges — the photo choice, the engraving, the tone. Here is what to know.

What a memorial figurine is

A portrait piece built from your best photo

The figurine is the same 3D printed keepsake as the rest of the line — full color, matte, sandstone-like surface — built from a single photo of your pet. Bust format works best for most memorial pieces, because the face is the part you miss.

The base carries the dates

A wood base engraved with the pet's name and years — "Rex, 2012–2025" — turns the piece into a record. Confirm the exact wording and spelling before approving the preview; engraving is permanent and happens before assembly.

Choosing the photo

Use the photo where the face is clearest

Not the most precious photo — the clearest one. If your best image is an old phone photo with soft focus but a perfect expression, send it. The preview will show what detail to expect before anything prints, so there are no surprises.

Old photos are normal here

For pets who passed long ago, the reference photo is often years old. Scanned prints work. Send the clearest version you have, and we will tell you honestly at the preview stage what level of detail is achievable.

Markings that defined them

The blue eye, the white patch, the grey muzzle. If a marking was part of your pet's identity, choose a reference where it is obvious. At 12 cm and above, those details survive; at smaller sizes they simplify.

Timing and pacing

There is no rush, and that is fine

Unlike birthday gifts, memorial pieces usually have no deadline. If you order when you are ready, the standard timeline applies without pressure: preview 3–5 working days, production 7–10 working days after approval, plus shipping.

Ordering soon after the loss

Many people order within the first weeks, when the absence is sharpest. If that is you, the same timeline applies — and the preview step means you will see the face again before anything is final, which some people find harder than they expect. There is no shame in waiting until it feels right.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make a memorial figurine of two pets together?

Yes. Multi-pet pieces are common for families who lost two companions. At 8–10 cm, two full-body figures simplify; 12 cm and up, or a bust format, keeps both faces readable.

What if I only have one poor-quality photo?

Send it anyway. We will assess it during the preview and be straight with you about what is achievable. If the photo cannot support the likeness, you will know before production — not after the piece arrives.

Is a memorial figurine a good gift for someone who just lost a pet?

It can be, with care. The safest version is a bust from a photo the owner already loves, with the base engraved with the pet's name and years. Avoid surprising anyone with a piece before they are ready to see the face again — offer it, do not present it.

How should the piece be displayed?

Wherever the pet's presence is missed — the mantel, a bedside shelf, near the leash. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun to protect the matte finish. A display case is worth considering for a piece meant to last decades.

Browse pet formats and sizes on the collections page, or see examples in the custom showcase. If you are ordering a memorial piece and have questions about your photo, ask before you order.
